Dishwasher Maintenance Tips

When your dishwasher doesn’t clean dishes properly, it could be because there’s a problem with the machine itself. Or maybe the water isn’t hot enough, or the detergent isn’t strong enough. Whatever the issue, there are things you can try yourself to fix the problem.

If the water valve isn’t opening or closing properly, then the water won’t flow through the pipes. This means that the water will not heat up, and the dishwasher won’t work correctly. To solve this problem, turn off the power to the unit, remove the cover plate, and check the water valve. If it’s stuck in one position, use pliers to pull it back into place. If it’ll only move in one direction, replace it.

If there’s a leak in the drain line, the water will run down the drain slowly, causing the dishes to sit in dirty water. You can fix this by removing the drain plug and turning off the water supply. Then, open the cabinet door and remove the drain hose. Check the end of the hose where it connects to the sink. If it’d been leaking for some time, the rubber seal at the end of the hose will be cracked and dry. Replace the hose with a new one.

If the pump isn’t working properly, the water won’t circulate through the machine. To clear the blockage, turn off the power switch and then unscrew the top panel. Remove the filter screen and clean it thoroughly. Next, remove the pump assembly and inspect the impeller blades. If they’re bent or broken, replace them. Finally, reassemble the parts and test the system again.
