Refrigerators use coils to keep food cold. The coils in refrigerators are made of metal, which means they need to be cleaned regularly. Cleaning the coils will also extend the life of the refrigerator.

Here’s how to clean refrigerator coils

If you notice any signs of rust or corrosion on the coils, then you should immediately contact an appliance repair service like us!

Remove the door from the fridge

Once the door has been removed, you need to remove the bottom panel. This is done by removing the screws holding the panel in place. Then, pull up on the panel until it comes off completely.

Unplug the appliance

Next, unplug the refrigerator. You will need to disconnect the power cord first. Then, turn off the breaker switch. Finally, open the back cover of the unit and remove the two screws holding the back cover in place. Pull the back cover away from the front of the unit. Turn off the power switch

Remove the three small plastic tabs located at the top left corner of the back panel. Then, pull out the four metal clips located near the bottom right corner of the back panel, one by one. Pull out the coils

After removing the back panel, remove the two screws holding the coil assembly in place. Next, remove the two screws that hold the coil assembly in place, then carefully pull out the coil assembly.
