What to do when your ice maker stops making ice

When ice is not ejecting

If your ice maker is not producing any ice, you should first check if there is water inside the ice maker. If there is ice inside the ice maker, it means your ice maker is receiving water and the problem likely isn’t with the water supply. If there is no ice inside the ice maker, this could indicate a mechanical or electrical issue.

When transferring food in the freezer, it can be easy to accidentally nudge the control arm into the off position, halting the production of ice.
  • Fix

It’s an easy fix. Locate the metal control arm and move it to the down or on position.

 

When it’s not making ice at all

 

  • Cause

Your ice maker isn’t producing anything, or is producing small ice cubes. All of this could be indicative of a clog somewhere along the supply line.

 

Fix

Use a turkey baster to pour warm water over the line until it thaws.
